CSWE 2013 Virtual Film Festival

I was contacted in January by friend to Notes from an Aspiring Humanitarian Dr. Michael A. Wright about an opportunity to be a reviewer of films for submission to the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) 2013 Virtual Film Festival.

In addition to Dr. Wright and myself, the reviewing committee also consisted of another friend to N.A.H., Deona Hooper, MSW, founder of the social networking community and online magazine Socialworkhelper.com and Dr. Stacey Borasky, Assistant Professor of Social Work and Chair at St. Edwards University.

The festival primarily focuses on films created by Social Work students, or films in which a student has collaborated with a faculty member that can be used in the classroom which address issues Social Workers may encounter in the field.

After much review, the official selection of films that will be screened during this year’s virtual film festival have been finalized.  To view or listen to previews of the films which were selected, and to find out how to participate in the voting process, visit the CSWE Website.

I'm a Social Justice Educator and Aspiring Humanitarian who is interested in conflict resolution, improving intergroup relations, and building more equitable and inclusive communities. "Notes from an Aspiring Humanitarian" is my blog, where I write about issues of diversity, inclusion, equity, and social justice. By exploring social identities through written word, film & video, and other forms of media, I hope to continue to expand and enrich conversations about social issues that face our society, and to find ways to take social action while encouraging others to do so as well in their own ways.
