An Affirmation to Notes from an Aspiring Humanitarian (N.A.H.)

My website and  Blog: Notes from an Aspiring Humanitarian (N.A.H.) was mentioned by Mary Kiernan-Stern, LCSW in her Blog post entitled: “Mindfulness Based Practice in Reflection” on her blog CreativeSolutions4Change.

In the article she said:

“My second treasure is a blog by social worker and “aspiring humanitarian,” Relando Thompkins, and you may visit with him at www.relandothompkins.com.

Relando’s web site is pure inspiration and his writing extremely thoughtful and important. As a social worker, I am particularly thrilled to see his work and feel he is a national voice for our profession. Once you visit and read his posts, I am sure you will agree his voice is one you want to hear for a long time.”—-December 2011

I believe we are all teachers and learners.

Through Truth-Telling: the honest sharing of my own experiences, I hope to teach you a little about myself, hopefully enabling you to be able to learn a little about yourself through my stories. When people comment on my posts, those comments allow myself as well as other readers unique opportunities to be able to be able to learn from them as well.

Notes from an Aspiring Humanitarian (N.A.H.) is also a platform for some of my writings on issues of equity and social justice. By exploring social identities through written word, film & video, and other forms of media, I hope to continue to expand and enrich conversations about  social issues that face our society, and to find ways to take social action while encouraging others to do so as well in their own ways.

I truly thank you Mary for your kind words of affirmation and recognition. Your words are truly inspiring, and I will definitely keep them close and use them as an encouraging reminder during challenging times.

Grace & Peace,

From Aspiring Humanitarian, Relando Thompkins, MSW
